Pensioner wins over £80,000 for injuries sustained in bus accident

A pensioner has been awarded compensation for her serious injuries after being thrown 15ft down a bus during an accident in Nuneaton. The woman in her 80s, who requests to remain anonymous, received over £80,000 in damages after suffering severe injuries in the accident, including a broken spine and several broken ribs. She had been onboard a Stagecoach bus when the accident happened in Collycroft in November 2012.
The bus that the woman had been travelling in was forced to break suddenly when a car pulled out in front of it. The woman was immediately taken to hospital following the accident, and has been making a steady recovery since with the support of family and friends.

The woman’s solicitor said: “Although the claim took well over two years to conclude, this is often the way with complex personal injury cases.” She said that determining the extent of the claimant’s injuries was important to ensure that adequate damages were settled. She explained: “The client would not be able to seek further compensation if their injuries persisted for longer than expected or became worse in the future.”
The woman said that she was greatly relieved to have been awarded compensation following the accident, and hopes to pay for she and her family to go on a cruise with some reward money. She said: “I am delighted with the result and am looking forward to spending the money and getting on with my life.”
